DeCA for Spain: the control document, free and in your language

Since 5 October 2026 every road haulage job carried out inside Spain, including cabotage by foreign hauliers, needs the electronic control document (DeCA) with a QR code. Fill in the details and download it as a PDF: in Spanish, which is what the officer reads, with your language under every box.

Nothing chosenPhoto or PDF. It goes as an extra page inside the same DeCA and is saved with it.
Nothing chosenUp to 6. They are made smaller automatically and go on extra pages of the same DeCA.

Your address book stays only on this device: nothing is sent anywhere. Next time you pick each item from a list above its box.

For the QR code to work, the finished PDF is stored at deca.stowhand.com for one year (the legal retention period) and then deleted automatically. Nothing else is stored: not who made it nor from where. Keep the file yourself as well: the shipper and the carrier must keep it for one year.

Who needs it

Every national road haulage job for hire or reward in Spain, by any company, Spanish or foreign. That includes cabotage: if you deliver an international load in Spain and then carry goods between two places in Spain, that leg needs a DeCA. International transport that only partly runs through Spain uses the CMR, not the DeCA. Own-account transport does not need it.

It replaces the old paper control document. The rule is the Resolution of 5 June 2026 of the Spanish Directorate-General for Road Transport (BOE-A-2026-12784).

What the officer sees

The officer scans the QR code and the PDF downloads straight away, with no sign-up. The document is in Spanish, as Spanish officers expect, and under each box the same name appears in your language, so you know exactly what you are carrying.

Show it on your phone or printed. Do not write on it by hand: handwritten notes are not valid. If something changes, generate a new one.

Questions

Is it really free?
Yes. Free, no sign-up and no limit.
Which details are mandatory?
Shipper and carrier (name, tax number and address), origin, destination, nature of the goods, gross weight, date of carriage and vehicle registration. Special authorisation only if the vehicle has one.
Can I use it for a trip from France to Spain?
No. That is international transport and uses the CMR. The DeCA is for transport between two places in Spain, cabotage included.
